Lake Township Historical Society plans August events

LAKE TWP. – The Lake Township Historical Society will have a community event from 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 8 at the One Room School House at Lake Center Street and King Church Avenue near Lake High School.
There will be fun and games for children and adults of all ages, including circle music games with Donna Hall.
Take a tour of the School House or attend class as it was held in the early years. Knowles Press donated their picture collection.
Many of the pictures of local residents haven t been identified. They will be on display and can be taken to fill out your family s photo collection. Other items will be available such as rolls of Lake High School sports film.
No child left hungry
Children of all ages throughout Alachua County will again be fed breakfast and lunch this summer.
Thanks to a federally funded food service program that runs from Monday through July 23, children from infants to 18 years old can receive free breakfast and lunch at 93 locations with a multitude of options that include in-person, bus routes, curb side grab and go and the Alachua County School District s food truck, which visits underserved neighborhoods including Hidden Oaks, Majestic Oaks and the Swag Family Resource Center.
All the children have to do to get a meal is to show up at a feeding site during meal times.
