20mph speed limits set for Bicester and Witney | Bicester Advertiser

SPEED reductions and planned road closures dominate the latest public notices issued by local authorities in Oxfordshire. In the last week, a variety of notices have been published by councils, impacting residents in different ways. From traffic orders to planning applications, these notices stretch right across the county. 20mph limits: Oxfordshire County Council has proposed two orders to replace 30mph speed limits with 20mph ones in both Witney and Bicester. The orders are for ‘road safety reasons’, in response to the Department for Transport Active Travel initiatives for walking and cycling. In Witney, this will impact the Cogges area (Church Lane, Meadow View and Stanton Harcourt Road), and the north east of the town (roads by Woodstock Road and Jubilee Way, extending out to: Harvest Way and its junctions with Woodstock Road and Jubilee Road; Madley Way at its junction with Jubilee Way, and Waterford Road at its junction with Jubilee Way).
