East Dundee Village President Jeff Lynam fired Village Administrator Jennifer Johnsen after she acknowledged in an email to staff that she was in a relationship with the assistant administrator, but Johnsen said Wednesday she hopes to be reinstated by the village board she believes supports her.
Village Trustee Scott Kunze said Lynam took the action before Monday s meeting without consulting the board, and the board could reinstate Johnsen if five of the six trustees vote to do so at a future meeting. Lynam will present the reasons for Johnsen s dismissal in a special meeting on June 14, and the board could take action then.

The East Dundee village board voted unanimously to waive attorney-client privilege on legal opinions some trustees believe support their decision to allow Scott Andresen to remain on the board even though he did not run for reelection in April.
Andresen and Trustee Scott Kunze requested that the opinions become public after recent comments by Village President Jeff Lynam suggested Andresen s seat should be declared vacant. At Monday s special meeting, Kunze said the opinions prove the board is following the advice of Village Attorney Gregory Smith.

East Dundee Trustee Scott Andresen, who didn t run for reelection in April but wants to stay on as a trustee, remains on the village board despite an attempt by Village President Jeff Lynam at Monday s board meeting to appoint a replacement.
Trustee Rich Treiber, who minutes earlier was sworn in to fill the seat vacated by Lynam when he was elected village president, made a motion to approve an agenda item appointing Frank Scarpelli to fill Andresen s seat. However, the motion failed when each of the other five trustees including newly elected Sarah Brittin and Tricia Saviano stated their intent not to second the motion because of a legal opinion issued by Village Attorney Greg Smith.
