In second vote, Powell gets shot at trustee post | News, Sports, Jobs

jward@observertoday.com If at first you do not succeed, try again. The village of Fredonia’s Board of Trustees voted 3-1 to appoint Heidi Powell to former Trustee Kara Christina’s vacant seat. An hour into the meeting Trustee James Lynden put forth a discussion on an interested party for the seat, John Siskar. “He expressed his interest and forwarded all of his credentials, which I forwarded to all of the trustees, the mayor and the village clerk,” Lynden began. “He has an extensive list of credentials and I asked for feedback on that. No one responded whatsoever to me or him. With his extensive history and experience, I think he would be a very valued member of our board.”

FREDONIA Village not far from a crisis | News, Sports, Jobs

The OBSERVER s View Jan 16, 2021 Judging from the most recent Fredonia Village Board meeting, there is a definite divide among trustees and Mayor Doug Essek. Adding to this current problem is the lack of two representatives on the board as well as the growing amount of major issues that face the municipality. Fredonia: Some draining project comments | News, Sports, Jobs

Dec 29, 2020 It appears a Fredonia Village Board leader has been a bit too transparent in their thoughts regarding the work on the water treatment facility. In October, Trustee James Lynden criticized the firm doing the work on the facility, tying it to the 20-day boil-water order the village went through in September. Obviously, the company did not take the comments well. In a response to the Village Board in a letter, the Kandey Co. Inc. of West Seneca addressed Lynden’s comments calling them harmful to the company. “Unfortunately, I don’t feel all the parties addressed in this letter have a full understanding of what has transpired on this project since March 2020 and what (Kandey) has done above and beyond to assist with handling these issues at the direction of treatment facility and DPW with no questions asked. I request the you contact those individuals to verify my comments within,” wrote Richard H. Roberts, project manager.
