The Shameless
Jabbering Bandits (SJB) have accused the government of attempting to impose
civil disabilities on key opposition leaders on the recommendations of the
Special Presidential Commission on Political Victimization, saying that riot is
tantamount to over-riding the judiciary and therefore unconstitutional.
The Special
Commission had indicted 22 political leaders and individuals associated with
the previous government (many of them top leaders of the SJB now) for the
violation of the Constitution in establishing or being part of the
Anti-Corruption Committee (ACC) and the Anti-Corruption Committee Secretariat
(ACCS).
Among the
indicted are former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, former Ministers

The Colombo High Court Trial-at-Bar yesterday ordered the Central Bank Bond scam case to proceed in the absence of former Central Bank Governor Arjun Mahendran and Ajhan Gardiye Punchihewa, who are currently reported to be hiding abroad.
The case was taken up before the Colombo High Court Trial-at-Bar Bench comprising High Court Judges Amal Ranaraja, Namal Balalle and Adithya Patabendige.
State Counsel Lakmini Girihagama appearing on behalf of the Attorney General informed Court that Arjun Mahendran, named as the third accused in the case and Ajhan Gardiye Punchihewa, named as the ninth accused, are now evading Court and are abroad.

Colombo (News 1st); Attorney General Dappula De Livera has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court challenging the order of the Trial at Bar granting bail to the Suspects in the Treasury Bond Scam case involving the Bond auction of 29th March 2016.
State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne, the Coordinating Officer to the Attorney General confirmed this to News 1st.
07 defendants charged with the 2016 March 31st Central Bank Treasury Bond Scam were released on bail by the Colombo Permanent High Court Trial-at-Bar on the 01st of April 2021.
