May took us from Fort Myers, through Bonita Springs and all the way to Naples for several exciting food adventures. Here’s a recap.
Lapa’s Costa Rican Bistro, Bonita Springs
Lapa’s Costa Rican Bistro in Bonita Springs marked my first foray with Costa Rican food.
We started off sampling the empanadas ($2.95 each) and patacones (aka tostones, $5.95). For the empanadas, you can choose from shredded chicken, ground beef, potato or cheese. We picked the potato. Depending on the culture and region, empanadas can be made of corn meal or flour. These were flour, and the filling was a very yellow potato. And it was delicious.

Our next dining destination is longtime favorite Davide Italian Cafe & Deli on Marco Island.
Things got off to an appetizing start with the shrimp parmigiana ($12.95) featuring lightly fried and breaded shrimp in a tomato sauce and topped with mozzarella cheese. A surprisingly great combination you might not expect.
Next, I had selected the restaurant’s namesake salad, featuring a spring mix, cucumbers, strawberries, mandarins, avocados, caviar and tuna salad with a kiwi lime sauce. So regal! Alas, it was not meant to be, as it isn’t currently being served.
‘Watts for Dinner’: Bring a big appetite to Stan’s Super Subs & Deli

Our next dining destination is Stan’s Super Subs & Deli on Old 41 in Bonita Springs.
Things got off to an appetizing start with the grilled cheese ($6.49). You can pick you cheese and add extra cheese for $.75 and select your bread. We picked American cheese, with extra cheese, on wheat.
Talk about comfort food. This tastes just like home, without the mess.
We also ordered a whole tuna sub ($13.49) on a white hoagie with lettuce, onion, tomatoes, green olives, green peppers and jalapenos with mayo and oil with Stan’s special seasoning. We also added extra meat for $3.

Online shopping has become one of the more preferred ways for shoppers to get their hands on essential grocery items over the last year.
Instead of endless queues and rushed shopping experiences, some customers happily opt for the laid back, socially-distanced setting that entails selecting items for click and collect or having shopping delivered straight to their doors .
Each of the new owners has long-standing ties to the sandwich concept.
A group of friends united to purchase Milio s Sandwiches, headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, with locations in Minnesota and Iowa.
The new ownership group includes Brian Bergen, Timm Heller, Todd Mancusi, Tony Mancusi, and Chris Gentilli. The group has long-standing ties to Milio s.
Gentilli has the distinction of being Milio’s first franchise owner in 2004. In 2008, Bergen s wife, Carol, franchised the Milio s Sandwiches on East Johnson Street in Madison along with Heller. Heller and long-time friends Todd and Tony Mancusi have been in the food industry for over 20 years while working with another franchise group. The team shares a deep affection for the Milio s brand and the local communities they serve.
