NMDCA: Family Mornings At Folk Art, 10 Hispanic Women Who Reshaped The World, Virtual Tours Of NM Museums NMDCA News: Explore the latest online programming from the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs (NMDCA), bringing the state’s unique blend of cultures into your home through its museums, historic sites, and cultural institutions. This week’s programs: Families are encouraged to join the Museum of International Folk Art for the next Virtual Family Mornings at Folk Art at 10 a.m., May 16. The online event features a grab-and-go art kit and access to a Zoom program that includes a story time and show-and-tell segment for children to share their art. The art kits are available for pick up the Friday and Saturday prior to the day of the event. The Santa Fe Desert Chorale (SFDC) announced programming details for the all-professional chorale’s 39 th year. Following postponements of its 2020 summer and winter festival programming due to COVID-19, SFDC continues its theme of Unlikely Partners in 2021. The Santa Fe Desert Chorale 2021 Summer Festival runs July 18 – August 6 and features three programs: The Jew and the Gentile: Salamone Rossi and Claudio Monteverdi, Roaring ‘20s, and East Meets West. All concerts will be held at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi and will be presented in accordance with New Mexico public health orders (click here for Safety Protocols).

Explore the latest online programming from the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), bringing the state’s unique blend of cultures into your home through its museums, historic sites, and cultural institutions. The History and Literary Arts department at the National Hispanic Cultural Center presents the latest online lecture in the series Tertulia Histórica Albuquerque “From Sea To Sand: Holy Week Traditions of Spain, New Mexico and the Philippines” via Zoom on March 20. The presentation will discuss the various traditions of Semana Santa (Holy Week), beginning with their origins in Spain and how they then spread around the world. The lecture will concentrate specifically on two former Spanish colonies – the northernmost frontier of Nueva España, New Mexico, and the Philippines. Register for this free event here.
