Artist Aaron Allen Marner next to his painting Lost Love in the City.
Aaron Allen Marner was working as a bartender in Phoenix’s Melrose District when the pandemic hit and bars were suddenly shut down. Facing isolation and time, he dove into painting. And what came out of that dive has transformed his life.
Marner’s work is vibrant full of bright colors, intricate patterns and distinct shapes. And it’s getting noticed.
The Phoenix Art Museum called his work “both visually and emotionally arresting.” And, earlier this year, Arizona State University s School of Humanities, Arts and Cultural Studies featured his work as part of their celebration of Black History Month.
