FG trains over 5,000 to monitor Social Investment programmes

Over 5000 Independent Monitors in Nigeria, were trained by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development, to access implementation of the various National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP).
Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management and Social Development, said in Kaduna on Tuesday during the training of 198 of the Monitors ,that the essence of the training was for the monitors to keep an eye on the national investment programmes of the Federal Government.
Hajiya Farouq who was represented by her Special Assistant on Legal Matters, Maymunah Idris, said that the independent Monitors will be assigned to monitor programme beneficiaries within their locality in schools, households, and market clusters with the focus of ensuring that the primary objectives of these programmes are achieved.

The Federal Government has engaged 79 independent monitors to ascertain the extent of implementation of the National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP) in Oyo State.
The independent monitors under the supervision of the federal ministry of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development are assigned to monitor NSIP beneficiaries within schools, households and market clusters.
The 79 selected persons across the 33 Local Government Areas of Oyo State are to examine the implementation of programmes like N-power, Conditional Cash Transfer, Home-Grown Feeding Programme and Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme.

The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development (FMHADMSD) has trained 150 Independent Monitors in Anambra to oversee activities of National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP) in all the 181 communities in the state.
Tribune Online gathered that the training which took place in Awka, on Friday, was aimed at equipping the trainees on what to look out for in the monitoring of these NSIP activities.
These include N-Power, National Home Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP), Conditional Cash Transfer Programme (CCT) and Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP).
In a speech during the training, the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq represented by Mr Raph Obi, Director Planning and research in the Ministry said that the vision of President Muhammadu Buhari is to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty over the next 10 years.

The federal government has announced the engagement of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to checkmate any fraud in its ongoing Social Investment Programmes across the country.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, unveiled this to journalists Thursday in Katsina during the training of 117 independent monitors at the state Local Government Service Commission.
The minister, represented by the Assistant Director, ICT in the ministry, Mr Aminu Tukur, said any beneficiary of the social intervention programmes found violating the rules of engagement would be handed over to the anti-craft agencies for investigation and prosecution.
