President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday extended the mandate of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 for a further period till the end of March 2021.
The President also said that Nigeria was in a perilous situation given the virulent nature of the second wave, adding that the situation demanded that the government must act decisively to protect the people.
The extension was in view of the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic especially the new surge in the number of cases and the bid for vaccines.
President Buhari, who disclosed this while receiving the End-of-Year Report of the Task Force, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said the nation cannot afford to lose the gains of the past nine months in the fight against the pandemic.
