RBDF Sub Lieutenant Renaldo Wilkinson of the RBDF charged with rape of a fellow marine on Inagua. NASSAU| Sub Lieutenant Renaldo Wilkinson appeared before a magistrate today charged with the rape of a marine, who worked as his subordinate. Prosecutors allege that Wilkinson, 35, raped the 32-year-old woman at the Royal Bahamas Defence Force base on Inagua on February 5. Wilkinson served as the the first lieutenant on the base. He’s been relieved of his duties pending the outcome of the case and his alleged victim is undergoing counseling. Wilkinson was not required to enter a plea to the rape charge when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.

RBDF officer charged with rape A 35-year-old Royal Bahamas Defence Force Officer has been charged with the rape of a woman marine. Prosecutors say that Renaldo Wilkinson raped the 32-year-old woman at the RBDF base on Inagua on February 5. Wilkinson was not required to enter a plea to the charge when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt Monday afternoon. Wilkinson was denied bail. However, his lawyer Ryszard Humes said he had a pending bail application in the Supreme Court. Wilkinson next appears before Ferguson-Pratt on April 14 to receive a voluntary bill of indictment that will fast-track the case to the Supreme Court.

Search expands for three missing fishermen

NASSAU, BAHAMAS Authorities searching for three fishermen missing in seas off New Providence since last week Sunday have expanded the search to cover north Eleuthera and the northern Exuma cays. According to Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) officials, the ongoing search involving four defense force assets, BASRA (Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association) and the United States Coast Guard has covered New Providence and surrounding cays to north Eleuthera and the northern Exuma cays with “negative sighting today”.
