RBDF officer charged with rape
A 35-year-old Royal Bahamas Defence Force Officer has been charged with the rape of a woman marine.
Prosecutors say that Renaldo Wilkinson raped the 32-year-old woman at the RBDF base on Inagua on February 5.
Wilkinson was not required to enter a plea to the charge when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt Monday afternoon.
Wilkinson was denied bail. However, his lawyer Ryszard Humes said he had a pending bail application in the Supreme Court.
Wilkinson next appears before Ferguson-Pratt on April 14 to receive a voluntary bill of indictment that will fast-track the case to the Supreme Court.
