Bomb Disposal Called In After Ordnance Discovery In Shanklin

The Royal Navy Bomb Disposal team was called to the Island yesterday, after a beach walker located some suspected ordnance on a Shanklin beach (Friday).
Members of Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team also attended the incident to provide a cordon and scene safety, after being paged at 3.28pm.
The item was retrieved and disposed of safely. CALLOUT 19.02.21 15:28 24/2021
Paged to a report of Ordnance on the beach at Shanklin. Pictures sent to Naval Bomb Disposal. Cordon put in place. Further inspection resulted in safe disposal by EOD

Maritime and Coastguard Agency have issued a warning after three anti-tank mines dating back to World War Two were exploded on a beach in South Devon earlier this week.
