Rescue callout after inadequately-equipped pair attempt Harrison Stickle climb in snow

A RESCUE team was called after a pair of inadequately-equipped adventurers became stuck on a Lake District fell in wintry conditions. The duo had attempted to climb the snow-covered face of Harrison Stickle, in the Central Fells region, on Saturday. However, after getting stuck, they called for help. Langdale/Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team (LAMRT) was notified of the incident at around 3.45pm. An LAMRT spokesman said, despite being inadequately equipped , the pair eventually contacted rescuers to say they had made it to safe ground on their own steam. Rescue team members were consequently stood down. The incident required 18 LAMRT team members for around 1.5 hours.

Rescuers called to walker lost in at Little Castle How

MOUNTAIN rescuers were called out after a female walker reported herself lost while out in the Lake District. Langdale/Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team (LAMRT) was called out to the incident at Little Castle How, near Grasmere, at around 2.15pm on Sunday. A spokesman for LAMRT said: A solo walker reported themselves lost on a walk from Grasmere. She was located and escorted down. The incident required seven LAMRT team members for a total of 4.5 hours. It was the 72nd call received by the rescue team this year, down from 95 at this time in 2019.
