The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge embarked on a 10-stop, 1,250-mile tour around Britain to thank key workers and speak to communities affected by coronavirus. They squeezed in their three-day trip on the Royal Train in the gap between December s lockdowns. However, it turned out to be quite a controversial trip and they were criticised by those who argued the royals should be staying home, just like everyone else.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge recently embarked on an ambitious, three-day, 10-stop,1,250-mile tour of the UK to meet communities affected by coronavirus and thank key workers. While overall there was a joyous response to their trip, there was some backlash due to the cost associated with the Royal Train. One expert has claimed it cost around £20,000 just to “get it off the tracks” and estimated that it may have cost £60,000 in total for the trip.

The First Minister was questioned by Express.co.uk during her daily coronavirus briefing today over whether Prince Charles was welcome to visit Birkhall, part of the Queens Balmoral estate in Scotland. Prince Charles has made the visit north of the border with the Duchess of Cornwall almost every year since 2015 and it is understood this year the couple had considered their options for celebrating Christmas north of the border.
