Jashim Uddin elected FBCCI president

DHAKA, May 9, 2021 (BSS) – Jashim Uddin, vice-president of Bengal Group, has been elected as the new president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) for the 2021-23 term.
Election Board Chairman Professor Ashraf Ali announced the results today.
Mostofa Azad Chowdhury Babu, a former vice-president of the federation and former president of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has become the senior vice-president of the new FBCCI board.
MA Momen of Ink Manufacturers Association, Habib Ullah Dawn, a former president of Bangladesh Reconditioned Vehicles Importers and Dealers Association or BARVIDA, and Amin Helali of Printing Industry Association have been elected vice-presidents from the Association Group of the federation.
Walton-Medtronic ventilators set to hit market finally
Walton is set to market the ventilators it has produced with the help of world-renowned medical equipment manufacturer Medtronic, a development that would help critical coronavirus patients to receive proper treatment.
The clinical trial of the device is over and the ventilators are now ready for sale. An official announcement will be made within a week, said a number of sources with direct knowledge of the development.
With this, Walton will be the first firm in Bangladesh to manufacture ventilators.
Anisur Rahman Mallik, chief executive officer of Walton s refrigerator department, said the WPB-560 model ventilator made by Walton with the help of Medtronic was ready for sale.
Electrical goods export jump
Exports of electrical goods rose 42.34 per cent year-on-year to $41.93 million in the July to January period of the current fiscal year, in a testament to Bangladesh s growing prowess in the technological sector.
The export receipts were $29.34 million during the same period a year ago, data from the Export Promotion Bureaus showed.
Industry people credited the initiatives of entrepreneurs and continuous development of products for helping the country widen its export basket. By virtue of quality products and the efforts of the manufacturers, the electrical goods industry reached this level, said Rabiul Alam, director and chief executive officer of Energypac Engineering Ltd.
