Interior Minister, Ambrose Derry says the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) is preparing for a possible earthquake.
Ambrose Derry says NADMO has undertaken some studies to equip itself in an event of an earthquake disaster.
Mr. Derry was speaking at a conference in Accra on the country s preparedness for earthquakes.
“I am aware that the National Disaster and Management Organisation is making efforts in consonance with the president s vision to build resilience against earthquakes,” he said.
The minister also expects sensitisation earthquakes to improve.
“NADMO has updated educational material ready for publication,” Mr. Dery disclosed.

President Akufo-Addo has directed the Ministry for Works and Housing to conduct a comprehensive integrity audit of all public buildings in the country.
The President wants the ministry to carry out this assessment in order to advise government on how best to ensure the safety of Ghanaians in the event of an earthquake and other disasters.
Nana Akufo-Addo said this at a stakeholder s conference on Ghana s earthquake preparedness and response held on Thursday, April 8, 2021.
“An earthquake does not kill, it is however the collapse of structures that is responsible for the losses. This means that to avoid such situations in the future, we need to ensure that buildings and structures are resilient to the impact of earthquakes.”
Gov Sanwo-Olu, Deputy finally take COVID-19 vaccine

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, on Friday took the first injection of the Astra Zeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
Sanwo-Olu took the injection at 3:03pm. while Hamzat was injected at about 3:10pm at the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), Yaba.
It can be recalled that the state government took delivery of the first consignment of 507,000 vaccines allocated to it by the Federal Government on Tuesday.
The Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso and some health workers also took the jab of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
