Feeding America, KenÂtuckyâs Heartland announced Thursday a new diversity initiative to better assist underserved minority and rural communities in the food bankâs 42-county service area.
According to a news release from the organization, the initiative is paid for through a Phase 3 Grant from Feeding America National Organization.
âWhile we strive to provide food for all people in our service area facing hunger, regardless of ethnicity, gender or age, our goal is to make a concerted effort to better reach out to those underserved minority and rural communities that may hesitate to ask for help because of a lack of communication and trust,â said Jamie Sizemore, Feeding AmerÂica, Kentuckyâs Heartland executive director, in the release.
