How long have you been surfing and how did you get into it?
I grew up sliding around on the snow at Alta and Snowbird in the American Rockies in my home state of Utah. It wasnât until I met my California-born wife that I started surfing. My first trip to meet her parents resulted in me getting a crash course on the waves of Doheny State Beach, near her childhood home, and from that moment I was hooked.

As a girl growing up in San Diego County, Robin Wright spent a lot of time in nature. Summers meant road trips in the family Volkswagen Vanagon “to see America and explore the wilderness,” she recalls.
“We were always camping, and that comfort I feel in nature, knowing how important and healing it can be, was a huge draw to this film,” Wright said in a recent interview about her new movie “Land,” in which she stars and also makes her feature film directorial debut.
