A voice actor is suing TikTok for using her voice in the app s text-to-speech tool without her permission.
The feature is often used to narrate the video without TikTok users having to use their own voices. It s also used humorously, as the auto-generated narration pronounces misspelled words or names incorrectly.
The text-to-speech option can be used by adding text to the video and holding down the words. A text-to-speech option will appear and once selected, it will then automatically read out loud the words the user has written.
American TikTok user, Doug Romeo, caused an outcry on the social media platform when he spoke out about the celebrity he “hates the most”, Trevor Noah. Needless to say, South Africans rallied to Noah’s support.
Romeo seems to have a gripe with Noah carving out a better life for himself in America. Unfortunately, it doesn’t stop there. Romeo also had a few choice words for South Africa as a whole. Here’s what happened.

‘You’ve never struggled’
Romeo uploaded his video to TikTok, in which he expresses his anger at Noah for speaking out about the treatment of Black people in America, saying Noah doesn’t “know the struggle”.
Between December and March, Wave House members and cofounders Fouladgar (2.9 million TikTok followers) and Jimbo Hall (1.3 million followers) scouted new talent to join their crew.
Season two introduced three new members: Ehiz Ufuah (9.9 million followers), one of the UK s largest TikTok creators, and Fairhurst (3.4 million) and Reagan Yorke (2.9 million), two American TikTok stars.
While Fouladgar and Hall found new members, the Yoke Network, the influencer-marketing agency that helped found and launch the house, was busy plotting the house s return.
To help produce the second season, Wave House and Yoke Network partnered with Brave Bison, a social-content studio and media network. In addition to its TikTok content, the house upped its YouTube presence, introducing a weekly series of reality-show episodes. The house also launched a Snapchat series and has a documentary in the works.
