National Night Out returns to Allen County

LIMA The region celebrated National Night Out on Tuesday, including activities in Allen County.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Department had activities at the Allen County Fairgrounds, American Township Fire and Elida Village Police were at the Elida Fieldhouse, and Bluffton police and fire were at the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool.

Two killed in American Township when pickup truck strikes house
Michele Brockert, 52, and Jon Brockert, 57, died at their residence at 3700 Gomer Road early Wednesday when a pickup truck crashed into their home. Police believe Joshua May, 29, of Lima, fell asleep at the wheel when he ran through an intersection and into the home.

A car crash in Lima Thursday afternoon sends two people to the hospital.
Just before 3:15 PM, first responders arrived at a two-car crash at the intersection of Allentown and Cable Roads.
A Buick SUV was traveling west on Allentown when it collided with a Nissan SUV turning left onto Cable.
According to American Township Fire and EMS, the two occupants of the Buick were transported to Mercy Health - St. Ritaâs Medical Center with minor injuries.
The Lima Police Department also assisted on the scene and says there will not be any citations issued.
