With brands around the globe laying out the frameworks to meet their corporate social responsibility goals and the discourse around the merits and demerits of plastics, sustainable packaging has become a prime focus for a range of material manufacturers and printers in the past decade or so.
However, the pathway to achieving a circular economy has its own set of challenges, especially in a country like India, where a range of waste management processes, such as the extended producer’s responsibility model is yet to gain traction. DIC India and PrintWeek webinar on sustainable packaging Ink specialist DIC India will collaborate with
PrintWeek to discuss the challenges involved in shifting to sustainable packaging in India in a webinar slated for 23 February 2021 at 3 pm.
Speaking about the webinar and the topic at hand, a DIC representative said, “We have seen some substantial developments around sustainable packaging in the last few years, based on the 3R policy: reduce, reuse, recycle (and additionally re-consume and re-circulate). We believe that to establish the new plastics economy- manufacturers, government and stakeholders must work together to adopt solutions such as biodegradable or recyclable packaging. This will enable us to progress towards the goal of achieving a circular economy that propagates a new way to design, make, and use things within planetary boundaries.”
