New Delhi, May 9 : Amara Raja Batteries Ltd has resumed operations at its plants at Nunegundlapalli and Karkambadi at Chittoor district with effect from May 8, after the Andhra Pradesh High Court granted an interim suspension of the orders passed by the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB).
The High Court on May 6 ordered a stay of the pollution board s April 30 directive to the company, telling it to close its plants with immediate effect.
In a statement on Sunday, the company said: Continuing with its focus on the best-in-class systems and processes for environmental, safety and health practices, the company will continue to engage closely with the APPCB to resolve any potential issues.

Earlier on April 30, the PCB had directed the company to close the plants immediately.
In a relief to Amara Raja Batteries Limited, the Andhra Pradesh High Court has stayed the operation of the notice of the AP Pollution Control Board for the closure of the company plants situated at Karkambadi and Nunegundlapalli in Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh.
The Pollution Board had issued the notice on April 30 and directed the batteries major promoted by the family of the Telugu Desam Party MP Jayadev Galla for closure of the plants with immediate effect.

The AP Pollution Control Board (APPCB) has issued closure orders to the Amara Raja Batteries. The company has received notices dated April 30 for the closure of its manufacturing facilities situated at Karakambadi, Tirupati and Nunegundlapalli in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.
Amara Raja Batteries said, The company as a responsible corporate, has always placed highest priority to environmental management systems and have adopted best environmental practices over the last few years.
