WE are just under two weeks away from Christmas Day, and despite the difficult year, St Helens is shining bright as streets shine in festive lights. Last Friday, St Helens Council turned on their Christmas lights, joining residents in lighting up the borough in aid of Willowbrook. The successful Decorate and Donate campaign asked residents and businesses across the borough to dress their homes and premises with lights and decorations, making a donation to the hospice if they can. The project comes on the back of the successful St Helens Scarecrow Festival, started by Eccleston resident Amanda Fieldhouse, which ran over the Halloween period, receiving great public support.
