Grayson County will no longer be holding COVID-19 shot clinics at the old Sherman High School as it attempts moves away from the crisis management part of its vaccination duties with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Beginning June 1, there will no longer be shots given at the old Sherman High School. COVID-19 vaccinations will be offered on Tuesdays at the Health Department from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on a walk in basis. We have done our part, said Grayson County Judge Bill Magers during Tuesday s meeting of the Grayson County Commissioners. When the vaccines were in short supply and the distribution chains were limited to take the lead and make sure that Grayson County residents had a reliable source of vaccinations. There are now other opportunities out there for folks to get vaccinations. Grayson County hit a new COVID-19 milestone Thursday. The county reported no new cases of COVID-19 that day.
The county s COVID-19 active case count on Thursday was 15. There are still people being tested of course, Grayson County Health Department Director Amanda Ortez said Thursday. But they are all coming back as negative at this juncture. They re negative but they are still making sure to do their due diligence if they have any kind of symptoms that s associated with COVID-19 that they are going to get tested. But today is one of the first days in over a year that we have had zero positive cases.

Texoma Community Center and Grayson County have entered into a partnership for mental health services at the Grayson County Jail. Grayson County Health Department Director Amanda Ortez gave a presentation on the $10,000 contact for the project during Tuesday s meeting of the Grayson County Commissioners.
Information in the court s agenda explained TCC will provide services to Grayson County inmates, based upon previous mental health assessments or as a need is determined. TCC will submit monthly invoices to GCHD, after such services are provided.
The $10,000 contract will be paid out to TCC at an hourly rate of $150 an hour for work performed at the jail between March 8 of this year and August 31 of next year.
