Residents react to traffic measure coming to Hornchurch

Published: 12:00 PM May 7, 2021    Havering Council has confirmed plans for an experimental traffic order which will see a mandatory left turn imposed for Minster Way on to Wingletye Lane, while there will be no left turn from Wingletye Lane on to Minster Way. - Credit: Google Maps An experimental traffic measure intended to improve road safety is set to go live at a busy Hornchurch junction. The council has confirmed those who drive through the Minster Way and Wingletye Lane junction will face new rules in the coming weeks. Once live, motorists will have to turn left from Minster Way on to Wingletye Lane, while there will be no left turn from Wingletye Lane on to Minster Way.

Published: 3:25 PM May 6, 2021    Pupils at Parsonage Farm Primary School in Rainham were invited to draw their experiences of lockdown, with the advertisement banner set to be on display until May 14. - Credit: Parsonage Farm Primary School Pupils at a Rainham school have drawn positives from lockdown - in more ways than one.  As part of the recovery curriculum at Parsonage Farm Primary School, staff created a competition for pupils to draw their positive experiences of lockdown to be displayed on an advertisement banner.  Assistant headteacher Martine Hurst said this curriculum focuses on supporting emotional wellbeing, because children cannot learn if they are not in a happy place .

Dr Abdul-Razaq Abdullah, 68, died in December at Queen s Hospital, Romford, where he spent a month suffering from the virus. The father-of-five worked with the NHS for more than 30 years after coming to the country from Iraq in 1985. He worked first as a doctor at the former Oldchurch Hospital, Romford, before establishing his own GP surgery at Rainham Health Centre in Upminster Road South. His daughter Ayat said being a GP meant the world to him .
