YFCs vote to raise membership age to aid Covid recovery >More in Members of the Probus YFC in Cornwall delivering food to people isolating during the first lockdown © Probus YFC The age ceiling for membership of the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (NFYFC) has been raised from 26 to 28 to help the federation’s recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. From 1 September 2021, Young Farmers Club (YFC) members can join or remain a full member of NFYFC until they are 28, which means they can still compete at events and access all the benefits of membership. The motion to lift the age ceiling was proposed by Abbie Williams of Gwent YFC and seconded by Bryony Wilson of Montgomery YFC, and voted on at the federation’s annual general meeting on 29 April.

NFYFC votes to increase membership age from 26 to 28 4 May 2021 | The fall in members due to the pandemic was discussed at NFYFC s recent annual general meeting Young farmers have voted to increase the membership age of the National Federation of Young Farmers Clubs (NFYFC) from 26 to 28 following the pandemic s impact on the federation. The decision means that from 1 September 2021, YFC members can join or remain a full member of NFYFC until they are 28 years old. Individual clubs can choose to retain their current membership ages if they do not wish to recruit members above 26. NFYFC members voted to increase the membership age at the 89th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held online on 29 April 2021.

'Our future is not guaranteed': Students rally outside Parliament to demand climate action

ROSA WOODS/STUFF St Mary s College students Abbie Williams, 17, and Marisa Raymond,17, say their future isn t certain. Children and teenagers from Auckland to Invercargill gathered at Parliament in Wellington on Tuesday, demanding politicians take climate change seriously. Around 150 protestors, ranging from school kids to teachers and other members of the public, came together for the School Strike for Climate NZ 100 Days 4 Action campaign rally. They presented politicians from across the political aisle a list of demands to be acted on in the first 100 days of this parliamentary term, including phasing out fossil fuels, moving to 100 per cent renewable energy sources, and investing in climate education in schools.
