The University of Hyderabad (UoH) has appointed three Institution of Eminence (IoE) Research Chair Professors recently.
Deevi Basavaiah has been appointed as IoE Research Chair Professor in Chemistry, in the School of Chemistry. Agepati S. Raghavendra as IoE Research Chair Professor in Life Sciences, in the School of Life Sciences and K. Narayana Chandran as IoE Research Chair Professor in Literary and Cultural Theory in the Department of English, School of Humanities.

Special Enforcement Bureau, police conduct joint operation
In a joint operation, the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) and the Reddygudem and Mylavaram police conducted cordon and search operation in Anneraopeta village and Anneraopeta thanda in the district on Thursday.
The police team, led by SEB Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vakul Jindal and Nuzvid Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) B. Srinivasulu, searched the houses in Anneraopeta village and destroyed 3,000 litres of jaggery wash and 25 litres of country-made liquor.
They took two persons, who were manufacturing the ID liquor and supplying the same to the nearby villages and thandas, into custody, said Mylavaram CI P. Srinu.
Rare Bonsai plant stolen from ex-DGP’s house in Hyderabad recovered

Hyderabad, Jan 15 : Hyderabad police on Friday recovered a rare bonsai plant stolen from residence of former Andhra Pradesh police chief V. Appa Rao and arrested a person.
A 21-year-old construction worker was held for the theft of the 15-year-old Casuarina Bonsai tree stolen on January 10 from residence of former Director General of Police in posh Jubilee Hills, while the second accused was absconding, police said.
A case of theft was lodged at Jubilee Hills Police Station on a complaint by Appa Rao’s wife V. Sridevi. She stated in her complaint that the 15-year-old bonsai miniature tree was stolen on Sunday from their house garden on Road No 18 of Jubilee Hills.
