Horse trading in 2018 Senate polls: PTI allegations against own MPAs yet to be proven

National February 9, 2021 PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) accused 20 MPAs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of horse-trading in the 2018 Senate elections but could not prove allegations. PTI Chairman Imran Khan had announced that cases against MPAs involved in corruption would be referred to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) but not a single case against any MPA has been referred to the NAB. Some former MPAs have filed a defamation suit against Prime Minister Imran Khan in various courts but the PTI has not submitted evidence or reply in any of the cases. Two petitions filed under the Defamation Ordinance 2002 are still pending. PM s lawyers are using various tactics to delay the case. Singapore, February 8 A 52-year-old Indian-origin man was sentenced to two weeks’ jail on Monday for attempting to promote racial enmity in Singapore by claiming that the ruling People’s Action Party wanted to “marginalise” Malays in the country, according to a media report. Sirajudeen Abdul Majeed pleaded guilty to one charge each of deliberately intending to wound racial feelings and promoting enmity between groups on grounds of race, according to The Straits Times. Another two similar charges for promoting enmity were considered during his sentencing, it said. On June 12 and 13 last year, the Singaporean of Indian ethnicity sent messages to three acquaintances claiming that the ruling party “wants to make the Malay community a sub-minority”, and that other races were introduced to the country to “just dilute the original race of Malay”.
