Lawmakers in the Kwara State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, raised an alarm over the influx of street beggars and the destitute into the Ilorin metropolis describing it as a security threat to the state.
A resolution read by the Speaker, Engr Yakubu Danladi Salihu, urged the state government to direct the security agencies in the state to work in synergy to bring the situation under control.
The resolution also urged the public to be active participants in the security of lives and properties by promptly reporting suspicious movements and activities within their environments to the security agencies.

The Governor also declared a state of emergency on the WASH sector in the state.
Speaking at the event on Tuesday, Governor Ikpeazu said the essence of the law is to provide the legal framework to guide the state actions concerning the provision of potable water to all households in the state.
He explained that water was essential for the socio-economic development of the state as well as the building of a healthy society.
Dr. Ikpeazu said the law makes it mandatory for the government to do the needful to give water to the people, adding that it also spells out the responsibilities of the citizenry.

The Governor described Ukpai, as bosom friend and long term political associate.
Speaking during the condolence visit, on Friday, Ikpeazu further said the death of Chief Ukpai was a personal loss to him, the PDP political family and Abia State as a whole.
“The suddenness of the death made it impossible for any kind of help to come from anyone, stressing that what came upon Chief Ukpai was well beyond any human intervention.”
