INEC approves creation of 4,861 additional polling units in Lagos On By Olasunkanmi Akoni Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Lagos State has concluded plans to create additional 4,861 polling units in the state. The Commission’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in Lagos State, Sam Olumekun, who announced this at the Election Stakeholders’ forum on Monday, held in Ikeja, explained that the move became necessary to tackle the usual voter apathy and boost voter access to polling units in exercising their fundamental rights to vote. The forum was part of sensitization and public enlightenment of Stakeholders by the commission towards engendering active participation in future election exercises.

NABTEB release results for 2020 exams, records 75.7 per cent credit On By Ozioruva Aliu – Benin City The National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) has released the results for 2020 Ordinary and Advanced level with 25,844 candidates scoring five credits and above with or without English Language and mathematics out of the 32,541that sat for the exam. It amounts to 75.7 per cent of the credit pass obtained by the students. Making the announcement at the headquarters of NABETB in Benin City, Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Professor(Mrs) Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe also disclosed that 21,175 candidates obtained five credits above including English Language and mathematics.

The Commissioner for Information, Abia State, Chief John Okiyi Kalu has stated that Abia remained one of the safest States that has ensured freedom of the press without any form of suppression and intimidation from the government. Okiyi Kalu reiterated that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu-led administration allows for press freedom and would continue to partner with the media in the development of the state. The Information Commissioner, who stated this during the celebration of World Press Freedom Day held in Umuahia, by the Abia State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). He enjoined journalists to report development, peace and prosperity in the State, stressing that bad reports create bad environment which does not promote security.
