  VANCOUVER Abbotsford police are investigating a fatal hit and run that killed a pedestrian on Saturday morning. Emergency crews responded to the incident on North Parallel Road, near the intersection of Atkinson Road, just before 6 a.m. “The Abbotsford Police Department is investigating this incident as a fatal hit and run of a pedestrian,” reads a statement from Cst. Jody Thomas. “The identity of the deceased male is not known at this time,” it continues. Traffic patrol officers, collision reconstructionists and major crime detectives were on scene Saturday morning, and traffic in the area was impacted. North Parallel Road between McDermott and No. 4 Road was closed, and Highway 1 westbound was reduced to one lane of traffic.

A voir dire, or trial within a trial to determine the admissibility of evidence, is being held following a request from defence lawyer Vincent Michaels, which was was agreed to by the Crown. Anne-Marie Hutchins, 46, died in hospital of acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) on August 26, 2020, one day after going to the Chilliwack COVID-19 testing site complaining of fever, cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, headache and fatigue.

Abbotsford traffic: Highway section closed after driver crashes into concrete barrier

  VANCOUVER A section of highway in Abbotsford was closed by police Monday morning after a driver collided into a concrete barrier. Highway 11 at McCallum Road was closed after officers tried to stop a vehicle in that area just before 1:30 a.m., the Abbotsford Police Department said. The vehicle failed to stop for police, and within seconds collided with a concrete barrier on Highway 11, police said in a news release. An 18-year-old female suffered critical injuries and was transported to an area hospital. In its statement, which was issued just before 7 a.m., police said that area would still be closed for several hours while police investigate the incident.
