Police praise crowds during Anzac Day commemorations 25 April
Police have praised the community for their respectful behaviour during Anzac Day services and marches in Sydney today.
Operation Anzac Day 2021 was established to ensure the community could commemorate today (Sunday 25 April 2021) safely and events were conducted in line with current Public Health Orders.
In Sydney’s CBD, general duties police patrolled event areas with assistance from specialist police, including the Public Order and Riot Squad, Operations Support Group, Mounted Unit, PolAir, Licensing Police, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, and the Police Transport Command.
Operation Commander, Acting Assistant Commissioner Rohan Cramsie, said most people showed respect towards each other and our service personnel.

The Year 10 student said she was honoured to wear them at the Kuttabul Dawn Service, a special commemoration that remembers those who served and the Australian Light Horse brigade.

Kuttabulâs tradition still honouring our Anzacs
Three riders and their horses lead the march that commenced the Kuttabul Anzac Day Dawn Service to the sounds of bagpipes across the chill air.
The Kuttabul Anzac Day Dawn Service was attended by hundreds of Mackay region locals to commemorate those who served and in particular the Australian Light Horse brigade.
The Melbourne service was allowed to go ahead after being cancelled earlier in the year.(Nine) The fact they have come in and stood in the dark is really testament to the Australian spirit, Mr Twidale said.
But despite public services going ahead after months of doubt, many were still frustrated by the barriers in place. You re standing here paying tribute and respect to Australia, and for the men who gave their lives and for the freedom of Australia and this (the fence) doesn t represent freedom, one man said.
