Second woman charged over death of Queensland police officer

19:30 EDT, 29 June 2021 A woman who allegedly mowed down and killed a much loved police officer has handed herself in. Queensland Senior Constable David Masters, 53, was hit and killed while trying to stop an allegedly stolen Hyundai Kona SUV with tyre-deflating road spikes on the Bruce Highway near Deception Bay, north of Brisbane early Saturday.  The burnt out car was later found 25 kilometres away.  The alleged driver, Skye Anne Wallis, 33, handed herself into Caboolture Police station on the Sunshine Coast late Tuesday night. Skye Anne Wallis, 33, from Caboolture, surrendered herself to police custody late on Tuesday. Wallis’s lawyer Hugh Stitt asked for her appearance to be excused when the case was mentioned in Caboolture Magistrates Court on Wednesday. Senior Constable David Masters, 52, died on Saturday after being struck on the Bruce Highway at Burpengary by a suspected stolen car. The car was later found burnt out in semi-rural Moodlu, about 17km from where Sen Const Masters was killed.
