PTI govt not threatened by PDM: CM Buzdar
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Bazdar has said on Thursday that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) doesn’t pose any threat to the PTI government.
“Every conspiracy against the PTI s mandate was foiled with the support of the people,” said the Punjab CM.
Provincial Minister for Labour Ansar Majeed Khan Niazi and Member Punjab Assembly Asad Khokhar called on CM Usman Buzdar where the matters of mutual interest, performance of the Labour Department and the current political situation in the country was discussed.
Punjab Govt Increases Minimum Wage for Workers
The Government of Punjab has decided to increase workers’ minimum wage by Rs. 2,000, as per sources.
The minimum wage has been increased from Rs. 17,500 to Rs. 19,500, as per the decision of the government, while the daily minimum wage remains Rs. 750.
The Punjab Minimum Wages Board issued a notification on 27 April 2021 in this regard which detailed that the increase is scheduled to go into effect by 1 July this year. Meanwhile, the board has asked the concerned stakeholders for suggestions for objections to the wage increase.

LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday directed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Inam Ghani to utilise all resources to protect the lives and property of citizens.Chairing a meeting on reforms and performance of the Punjab Police here, the prime minister stressed the use of modern technology to control crimes. Imran Khan emphasised on resolving the problems of citizens on merit and taking strict action against officials creating hurdles in the way to justice.
The premier regretted that political appointments were made in the police during the previous regimes, which adversely impacted the performance of the department. He said no one was above the law and asked the police personnel not to succumb to any political influence or pressure. The Covid-19 pandemic, which has drastically changed the world order and claimed millions of lives already, has resulted in the formation and launch of the new labour inspection regime in Punjab, a move which Prime Minister Imran Khan claims “is a good initiative to help promote small and medium industries, besides strengthening the country s economy”.
“The government noticed during the pandemic that it did not have statistics of more than 80 per cent labourers,” Premier Imran said while presiding over a meeting held to launch the new regime here on Friday.
