The All Indian Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has released the tentaive academic calendar for the academic session 2021-22. As per the schedule, the classes for the first-year engineering students need to be commenced by September 15. The first round of counselling for the allotment of seats will be completed by August 31. The last date for the commencement of classes for existing students is September 1.Â
For PGDM/PGCM institutions, the last date for admission is July 10, while for the open and distance learning/online learning mode the last date for admission to the first session is September 1, while February 1, 2022 for the second session.Â

Higher Education Secretary Amit Khare on Friday reiterated one of the new National Education Policy s major reforms stating that the union government plans to merge all the higher education regulators including the University Grants Commission (UGC) and All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to create a single education commission in 2021. When will these changes come you will see them in 2021 itself. In the education sector, you have UGC, then for technical courses (you have) the AICTE, for teacher education, there is NCTE all of them will get merged. And in the next academic session we ll be having one single Higher Education Commission of India, Khare said at the FICCI annual convention on Friday, according to several reports.
