Over 5000 COVID center cleaning staff hold hunger strike in Guwahati The COVID-19 Safai Karmi has been protesting since long time against the government and the Health department s indifferent attitude towards them   |  29 Dec 2020 1:05 PM GMT Guwahati: Over five thousand COVID-19 Safai Karmi (cleaning staffs) on Tuesday observed hunger strike against the government and the Health department s indifferent attitude towards the COVID-19 warriors at Sasal area in Guwahati. A protester Safai Karmi said that they are bound to hold this strike as during the COVID pandemic the Health Department of Assam appointed them as Lab Technicians, ward boys, and cleaning staff promising a lot, but then did not deliver any of those.
