In the weeks leading up to Earth Day shoppers will see messages about companies commitment to combating climate change or even products claiming to have a more positive impact on the environment than others by generating less waste or being produced with less energy.
âFirst of Its Kindâ Complaint Filed Against Chevron for Greenwashing Campaigns

Environmental groups on Tuesday filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) saying that oil giant Chevronâs ad campaigns and consumer reports mislead the public about the companyâs environmental impact. The groups say that the complaint is the âfirst of its kind.â
Earthworks, Greenpeace USA and Global Witness, the groups behind the complaint, say that the company has violated the FTCâs Green Guides. âWe are asking the FTC to issue an enforcement that would deter Chevron and other oil and gas companies from continuing their misinformation campaigns in the future,â Josh Eisenfeld, who campaigns for corporate accountability for Earthworks, told
