He defended his action, saying he has been treating Covid patients for a year and questioned the rationale behind the government’s guidelines in this regard. Following a complaint by the store, Mangaluru police have booked a case against Dr Bevinje Srinivas Kakkilaya under the Karnataka Epidemic Diseases Act, 2020. Medical associations have criticized the physician for the incident.

The decision came at a monthly review meeting of the Power Division chaired by Power Secretary Md Habibur Rahman. The government’s latest decision on coal-fired plants comes after widespread criticism and concerns raised by environmentalists from home and abroad over the years. As per the move, the proposed Moheskhali 1320MW coal-fired power plant, Ashuganj (Patuakhali) 1320MW coal-fired Power Plant and 1200MW Uttarbanga super thermal plant in the public sector may be dropped from the government’s plan.
