After a long delay and in wake of second Covid 19 wave in the country, the CBSE today decided to cancel Class X exams. The decision was taken at a high level meeting attended by PM and Education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’. While the CBSE Class XII exams have been further postponed, Class X students will be promoted and graded on the basis of previous assessment.
With the decision finally putting rest to the anticipation of teachers, students and parents across the country, we ask prominent educators from city their views on the new development and if its going to have any impact on students.

Plans 50,000 sq ft campus for film, TV, games and virtual production
A £18m ‘creative content hub’ for independent TV production in Birmingham has been announced. The development will be spread across a 50,000 sq ft campus, at The Bond, in Birmingham’s Creative Quarter.
An investment of £3m from Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) has been confirmed for the project, to enable it to go ahead, subject to planning permission.
A planning application has now been submitted for five existing and derelict heritage buildings on the Fazeley Street site to be transformed into a space for the region’s diverse talent.

Days after reopening of schools across the state for Class V-VII students, turnout in private schools remains dismal. The government schools had implemented the reopening orders as soon as these were issued, while most private schools chose to wait for parental consent before calling students to attend classes.
As of today, private schools in the city are getting 10-12 per cent attendance in Class V to Class VIII. Dr Anita Bhalla, secretary of Sahodaya Schools and Principal, Bhavans’ SL School, said the low turnout was due to multiple reasons. The extreme cold weather conditions and the suspicions regarding pandemic are the main reasons for low attendance in middle classes. Most parents are waiting till Lohri to send their wards as there could be change in weather after Lohri.”
