30 farmers groups get solar-powered irrigation

May 04, 2021 THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) turned over Tuesday, May 4, a solar-powered irrigation system (SPIS) worth P1 million to some 30 agrarian reform beneficiary organizations (ARBOs) in Bani, Pangasinan. Ma. Ana Francisco, provincial agrarian reform program officer of Pangasinan and concurrent assistant regional director for administration of DAR Ilocos Region, said the system is under the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support Project (CRFPSP) of the department. Francisco said SPIS is to boost the yield of farmer-beneficiaries. “With the help of the SPIS, the production cost of our farmers will be reduced because they will no longer buy gasoline for their generator sets,” she said in an interview.

Farmers get new homes in Umingan, Pangasinan

(DAR / MANILA BULLETIN) The project led by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) was launched in Barangary Carayungan Sur in the municipality of Umingan on Dec. 15. DAR Secretary John Castriciones pointed out the right of every Filipino to have their own home. He said providing decent houses to farmers will uplift their living conditions and economic status. DAR’s conceptualization of the housing program is a sign of gratitude to the farmers who have proven their worth as food providers of the nation, Castriciones said. “We must strengthen and raise the standard of living of our farmers.
