MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato and South Central College (SCC) announced today they have collaborated on a partnership known as the Maverick (Nursing) Advance (Transfer) Plan, or “MAP,” between the Associate of Science in Nursing degree from SCC and the 100 percent online Registered Nurse (RN) Baccalaureate Completion degree from Minnesota State Mankato. Students in the Professional Nursing (preparation for RN) program at SCC who participate in the Maverick Advance Plan will be provided with guidance and support from both institutions to ensure a seamless transfer path directly after graduating with an Associate of Science in Nursing degree from South Central to the 100 percent online RN Baccalaureate Completion Program at Minnesota State Mankato.

The hearing was virtual. Parker discussed the need for investing and training the next generation of infrastructure workers. The discussion comes as Democrats aim to push President Joe Biden’s sweeping infrastructure plan through Congress. While Parker said she is not necessarily advocating for the legislation, she is supportive of investing in community colleges. ”We, as a nation, know we have a workforce shortage. It’s the types of students that come out of your local community college and so If we are going to address that concern, we are going to have to figure out what to do to get more people into those jobs,” Parker told Congress.
