Bills to Keep Utility Payments Manageable Passes Through State Senate

By News Director Jared Atha During his recent appearance on Exploring Energy on KECO, Oklahoma Rep. Anthony Moore (R-Clinton) spoke about a pair of bills that would save Oklahomans thousands in utility costs that was passed in the Senate this week. The bill is in response to the severe winter weather Oklahoma saw in February where after several days of below freezing weather, the state saw an increase in power and gas usage along with crippling widespread power outages. In the wake of the storm, high utility bills were received by residential and commercial users alike. Moore says S.B. 1049 and 1050 would save Oklahomans from a crippling bill. He says these bills would allow the state to securitize the utility bills, and allow the customer to pay it off in what could be a ten year period.
