Munhall man killed in vehicle-pedestrian crash

A 72-year-old Munhall man was killed Thursday morning when he was hit by a vehicle in West Homestead, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office reported. The victim, Anthony Donofrio, was hit at 10:35 a.m. in the 100 block of Seventh Avenue and West Street, the medical examiner’s office stated. The Allegheny County Police homicide unit and collision reconstruction unit are investigating the fatal accident. No information was available late Thursday night on the identity of the driver or the vehicle that hit Donofrio.

Assistant Prosecutor Kevin Trapp told Judge Anthony Donofrio that Wardle’s blood alcohol level was .201 nearly three times the legal limit of .08, and he was driving 75 to 78 mph in a 45 mph zone when the crash took place. The road has only two lanes.
