Jackson gets behind Underdawgs during their time playing in TBT
The Jackson Underdawgs have become a local sensation in recent years.
Coached by Dexter Williams and made almost completely of a virtual all-star team from high school basketball circa 2006-2010, the team has competed in The Basketball Tournament for the past few years.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down gatherings in 2020, Oman Arena was set to host a regional tournament last year.
They’ve become a team for much of the Jackson area to get behind for a few days each summer.
Anthony Kirk, owner of Turntable Coffee Counter in Downtown Jackson, has been a fan of them for years and wanted to help them out.

With Fremantle Sailing Club s Fremantle to Exmouth Ocean Race and Rally less than a week away, thirty seven crews are eagerly looking at advance weather models, all indicating that the race record is set to be smashed.
Early indications suggest soft conditions between Fremantle and Geraldton, which should then freshen from the south east as the fleet moves up the coast -almost a perfect scenario for the line honours contenders, Craig Carter s Carkeek 47, Indian and Anthony Kirke and Andrew Nuttman s GP42/Carkeek, Enterprise NG.
Both are proven flyers in such conditions and Kirke has already shown in their few encounters that his yacht can match it with her larger rival in the right conditions.
Indian - Fremantle to Exmouth Race & Rally © Bernie Kaaks
It s been thirty years since the Fremantle Sailing Club organised a yacht race to Exmouth. In 1991 it was political unrest in Indonesia forcing the abandonment of a Bali Race and this time around, the Covid pandemic halted international events.
Thirty-eight yachts will cross the start line on Saturday 8th May, almost evenly split between race and rally entries. Craig Carter s Indian, a Carkeek 47, is line honours favourite and rightfully so. With two Siska Trophies in his cabinet (the Siska is the de facto offshore championship for WA) Carter has a solid record of fastest times, though he could be tested by Anthony Kirke s GP42 Enterprise NG, a super lightweight flying machine. Thopugh still relatively new to WA, Enterprise has shown her ability to match it with her bigger rival.
