Stick with Toona Ciliata in Viceroy Trophy

TOONA CILIATA’s light impost of 117 pounds, four pounds lighter than his spectacular return to form in last month’s Chairman’s Trophy, makes him the horse to beat in Friday’s Viceroy Trophy at a mile, renewing rivalry with new stablemate and Horse of the Year, NIPSTER. Having wrested the lead from Gary Subratie atop the trainers’ standings, champion Anthony Nunes has started flexing his all-powerful barn, including NIPSTER, who was moved from his rival’s stable by owner Michros.

She s A Wonder proves a cut above rivals in Thornbird Stakes

She s A Wonder (Reyan Lewis) is being led to the winners enclosure after her smashing victory in the seven-furlong Thornbird Stakes at Caymanas Park on Wednesday, April 7, 2021. (PHOTO: caymanasracing) SHE S A WONDER cemented her claim as the horse to beat in June s 1000 Guineas with a smashing 10-length victory over ACTION ANN in Wednesday s seven-furlong Thornbird Stakes at Caymanas Park. SHE S A WONDER, with jockey Reyan Lewis,  raced clear of the Omar Walker-ridden HOIST THE MAST from three furlongs out and disappeared from her old rival in the stretch run, winning unchallenged in 1:26.4. ACTION ANN, the March 13 Hot Line Stakes winner,  improved from fourth to close past a weakening HOIST THE MAST a furlong out to secure second behind the 3-5 favourite.

Don t oppose Further and Beyond in Prince Consort Stakes

FURTHER AND BEYOND, champion two-year-old of last season, makes his three-year-old debut in Thursday’s Prince Consort Stakes, tuned to the minute and eyeing a third straight win for champion trainer Anthony Nunes. Co-champion jockey, Dane Nelson, is aboard the Blue Pepsi Lodge-Rumble colt, who overhauled stablemate HOIST THE MAST and Wednesday’s impressive Thornbird Stakes winner, SHE’S A WONDER, to land December’s Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes at a mile. Though returning off a three-month lay-up, FURTHER AND BEYOND’s manner of victory in the biggest two-year-old race of last season, is yet to be surpassed by any colt or gelding this year. Though his stablemate, CALCULUS, rebounded from a fifth-place finish in the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes to chase down REGNANT and BILLY WHIZZ in the Sir Howard Stakes on March 14, FURTHER AND BEYOND is still too advanced for him to tackle at seven furlongs.

Nunes double, but Roy Rogers takes Lindy Delapenha Memorial

Anthony Nunes Champion trainer Anthony Nunes saddled two winners on Sunday s eight-race card, VERSATILE VISION and three-year-old debutant, CURLIN S AFFAIR, his first victory for champion owner, Michros, who has reportedly severed ties with leading trainer, Gary Subratie. Michros won his first owners title last season with Subratie, campaigning with WOW WOW, St Leger winner, NIPSTER, and retired filly, ANOTHER AFFAIR, runner-up in the 1000 Guineas and Oaks. Elsewhere on the card, ROY ROGERS won the one-mile Lindy Delapenha Memorial by a half-length in a driving finish at odds of 2-1, turning back HARRY S TRAIN ahead of COCO CHANEL and BIGBANG. Partnered by nine-pound claiming rider, Nicholas Hibbert, ROY ROGERS raced clear of HARRY S TRAIN before his rival s stablemate, COCO CHANEL, challenged strongly along the rail approaching the last half-furlong.
