The zero tariff, zero quota trade agreement we have agreed with the EU will see UK firms able to keep doing business with Europe while enabling them to seize new opportunities as we strike trade deals with the world’s fastest growing markets. However, now that we are outside the EU customs union, there are new processes and rules which businesses need to follow.
There are new rules on exports, imports, tariffs, qualifications, hiring and travel, and businesses need to prepare and adjust to the new relationship with the EU.

Businesses that have not yet prepared for new trading rules with Europe which came into effect from 1 January are being urged to act now to help ensure they can continue to trade smoothly.
Even though the UK has secured a zero-tariff, zero-quota deal, doing business with and travelling to Europe has changed.
Now the UK has left the EU customs union and single market, there are new rules and processes businesses will need to follow.
One of Newtown s largest employers has created 44 new jobs after bringing one of its main production lines back to the town. Control Techniques Commander general purpose drives will now be produced entirely at its factory in Newtown after previously being manufactured abroad. Until recently the production was outsourced to Asia but the Nidec brand has brought everything back in house, which has resulted in 44 new jobs being created locally. Martyn Cray, VP of operations at Control Techniques, said: “By moving production of our Commander product back to the UK we have demonstrated our confidence in Wales as a competitive place to do business.
