As local businesses are able to return customers to a percentage of their regular capacity, the flow of both people and revenue has been much-needed for a lot of places.
Lucky Lanes owner Paul Nocek is one of the many business owners happy to see people coming back. COVID-19 guidelines remain in place for his customers and employees to follow, and even if it looks busy when driving by, Lucky Lanes is still operating at a fraction of its capacity.
“It looks busier than it is,” Nocek said. “We’re only allowed to use every other lane, so our peak right now is half full.”

Pamela M. Westman, 75, passed away at the Chau-tauqua Nursing and Reha-bilitation Center on Mon-day, Jan. 11, 2021 after a lengthy battle with demen-tia and complications due to COVID-19. She was born on Aug. 23, 1945, the daughter of the late Frank and Stefania (nee Zapor) Gabalac.
A lifelong and voracious learner, Pam earned de-grees in English, nursing, and women’s studies. She was employed as a re-gistered nurse at Brooks Memorial Hospital for 15 years and was an educator and guest speaker for the hospital’s Percept Program with JCC students. Pam was a friend to the Christo-pher Wellness Center, now known as the Circle of Love, and was essential to the program’s networking in its early years. She also served as secretary of the local chapter of the Ameri-can Association of Univer-sity Women.

The Winnebago City Council held their last regulary scheduled meeting for 2020 on Tuesday, Dec. 8. It also marked the final meeting as mayor for Jeremiah Schutt and for councilman Rick Johnson. Both men chose not to seek another term for their respective positions.
