Police allege Banks stuffed his body into an attic crawlspace and then tried to cover it up. Prosecutor Jason Miller told the judge, “He swore an oath to uphold the law, and he violated it in the most vile way: He murdered a child.“

Eric Banks, the teen’s stepfather, has been charged with first- and second-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death, according to police. When the boy’s body was discovered, Banks reportedly tried to disarm a police officer. As a result, he has been in custody since last week, ABC News reported.
