A land owner in Mukim Sengkurong was issued a notice by the Authority for Building Control and Construction Industry (ABCi) to demolish the illegal extension of his house which had encroached into his neighbour’s land, an offence Under Section 24(1) of the Building Control Order 2014 (BCO).
The owner complied with the Planning Authority’s order and demolished the extension within the stipulated time.
Any person who carries out, permits or authorises the carrying out of building works without approval and permit from ABCi is guilty of an offence which carries a penalty of a maximum BND200,000 fine, imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or both.

A local construction company hired to renovate a house in Kampong Lumapas was found to have carried out building works without a permit from the Authority for Building Control and Construction Industry (ABCi).
The landowner had complained to the ABCi about the delay in the completion of the project, despite the continual progress payments for the building works.
The ABCi issued a notice to the construction company regarding the alleged offence under Section 24(1)(b) of the Building Control Order 2014 (BCO), for building without a permit.
If convicted, the offence carries a penalty of a fine not more than BND200,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years, or both.

The Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC) and the Ministry of Development (MoD) will support the Manpower Industry Steering Committee (MISC) in Construction in continuing to host schemes such as the ARMECS Bridging Programme 1.0, so that locals can find employment in the construction industry, where there are vast opportunities for nation-building.
This was said by Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar during a presentation of certificates of achievement to 31 trainees who completed six months of training at architect and professional engineer firms, under the ARMECS Bridging Programme 1.0 yesterday.
The certificate presentation was held at the Authority for Building Control and Construction Industry (ABCi) building.
